July 2014 Horse Highlight: Dublin

When adopters come to Red Bucket Equine Rescue, they are looking for a horse that will suit their needs, and they are ready to make the commitment as a forever home. Whether it’s a horse for competition and training, or a donkey for companionship, Red Bucket is dedicated to a match making process that ensures they find their forever homes. Part of what that entails is an understanding of our equine through Red Bucket’s “Charm Farm”: analyzing their pasts, understanding their personalities, and providing health examinations and training.

The petite woman who purchased Dublin because he was attractive, soon realized that Dublin had not found his forever home with her. Instead of abandoning or selling him however, she graciously donated Dublin to Red Bucket Equine Rescue which ensured his protection. To give a brief description, Dublin is a large thoroughbred paint horse that looks a bit like Geoffrey the famed giraffe. Similar to many of the children that Geoffrey caters to, Dublin can be a little naughty, very curious, has a desire to be in the middle of all the action, and enjoys interacting with people.

The ideal home for Dublin will be someone who is ready for a long term commitment and who can devote significant time to him. We know that adopting a horse from Red Bucket is a large commitment in itself, but for this 8 year old gelding who loves being social with his peers, it’s a notable responsibility. The ideal match would be just as unconditionally committed to 8 year old Dublin as they were to 28 year old Dublin. It’s an exciting prospect to unconditionally love one of our horses for so long.

Along with Dublin’s charming personality and youth, his high level of diversified training allows for versatility. Whether it’s jumping in an English saddle, or going on trails in a Western, Dublin is delightful to ride and thrives with regular work as many days a week as possible. It’s because of this versatility that we are able to show Dublin to many potential adopters. While he has not yet found his forever home, our Red Bucket contract that adopters sign ensures that his next home will indeed be, forever.
