Facebook Welcome:
Dumped and betrayed, the youngster was left at a feed lot, terrified….awaiting the inevitable. He was a crypt orchid, considered a burden and useless by the breeder who dumped him, unconcerned and callous to the brutality that awaited the darling, shy, and uncertain colt. The paint caught the eye of a rescue friend of ours who is dedicated to saving as many of the innocent slaughter bound horses as she can. Another friend, Dr. Eric Davis of RVET’s donated the necessary surgery. Yet another friend has brought him to us for training and a second chance. We will provide the education and confidence that this very sweet horse deserves, and then a forever home that will treasure him. Again, it is tough to tell these stories without recognizing “the village” that comes together to selflessly help save these spectacular horses that we all love so dearly. We are grateful to all those who do their part to help, and thank all of you who provide the donations that make our work possible, and allow us to say yes rather than no to the horses who we are asked to help. He has a face that will melt your heart.
Today, with a warm sunshine on his newly groomed coat (with lots of product) he stands in his roomy and well bedded paddock, munching on sweet orchard hay, flirting with the Red Riding hoods….and keeping his delightfully mis matched eyes on his neighbor (and new girl friend) Bunny, who seems mildly indifferent to his attentive stares…and the ridiculous show that he puts on for her demonstrating his maneuvers of bucks, prances and roll backs. The most important thing to us is that he is safe, feels secure in his temporary home…and that he will be treasured and loved. He will begin his training in preparation for his second chance in a few weeks (Lauren…this one is for you, girl friend) Until then, he continues to amuse and delight us…he is very much ALIVE, and he definitely knows it!
