Before and After Pictures

Kamerick “Kami” RB

Kami Kami 2 (1) Kami 2

Description:

Kami was born and raised here on the ranch the horses own.  Her mother, Marlee,  was one of several mares we rescued from slaughter. Despite her mothers abuse and neglect, Kami is a healthy beautiful marked chestnut foal with a darling personality. She will be starting under saddle training in Spring 2019.

Facebook Welcome – Happy Birthday:
Pregnant…starving…feral….and sold by the pound at a slaughter auction. They would take her baby from her in a violent and degrading final act. Marlee didn’t have anything to call her own…not a name, only a number crudely glued to her hip. Today she has a name, a red bucket, and the gift of dignity. Last night she gave her daughter the gift of an April birthdate and the promise of many birthdays to come. Little Cameden AKA Kami is still a wee bit wobbly, sports a wide blaze, two white socks, the cutest two tone bit of tail that we have ever seen…and the slightest promise of a racing stripe. Shortly little Kami will join her soon to be BFF Mcgarrah in our new  nursery barn at night and will play in the East Paddock by day. We want to wish this little “Punky Brewster” look-alike a happy birthday and sincerely thank everyone who donated to our feral pregnant mare rescue for making their lives possible…your gifts make a huge difference and we are deeply grateful.
Red Bucket Equine Rescue #244- Kamerick (AKA Kami):

Our Kami-Corder has captured a shot of 18 hour old little Kami stepping out onto her sun porch under the watchful eye of her momma Marlee (and the close supervision of the Red Riding Hoods)…. The fresh air and sunlight exposed a light sprinkling of freckles across Kami’s pink velvety muzzle as she took her first wobbly and tentative baby steps into her life as a “wanted horse”.  Marlee, who continues to amaze us with her stoic and guarded protection of her baby has never laid down the entire time that she has been with us at Red Bucket other than to give birth and life to her foal. Marlee seems grateful for the safety of her stall, the endless supply of fresh hay, her misters….and her baby who has been given a second chance. We want to express our appreciation for the support, friendship, and after hour counsel of Kami’s God Mother our dear friend, Dr. Adrienne Moore…words are not enough, but THANK YOU!

Facebook Update:
New Foal Update From The Kami-Corder….Kami’s First Nuzzle! Most of us at Red Bucket, have been overwhelmed with a myriad of emotion as we’ve prepared our feral mares for motherhood. The arduous prep has in no way prepared us for the extre…me impact of watching these little life’s enter the world and join the protective cocoon of Red Bucket. Our tears have been confusing as we joyfully celebrate our little foals, while experience stabbing empathy for what their mothers have endured, and taste the bitter and raw grief for the many desperate and deserving horses that we have not been able to save. Perhaps our work has been most greatly validated in the miraculous births of our two perfect fillies McGarrah and Kami. McGarrah has proven to be bold, a bit sassy, curious, and most thrilling of all…friendly. We can touch, cuddle, scratch, and rub her entire body. Little Kami has begun her life behind the protective stance of her mother Marlee, just out of our reach….until today. Interesting, that it took a child to coax Kami from beneath her mothers tail (and a child to convince Marlee that it would be safe)  and nuzzle the outreached hand of a little girl, Emily. Innocent Kami and our precocious McGarrah might have had a rough start in life….but from this moment on….it will be blissful beginnings and a happily ever after life!
Facebook Update:

With four newly minted and perfectly healthy little foals scampering, playing, bucking, and frolicking around Red Bucket, it is easy to get lost in all that adorable fun. McGarrah, Kami, Micah, and Mathe are completely distracting during their waking hours, and when they are curled up (or in Mathe’s case completely stretched out) they have the ability to completely derail our entire operation, as we cannot take our eyes off of what has presented itself to us as a miracle. We are however reminded of perhaps what is even more magical…their mothers who have endured terror, starvation, and the horrors of impending slaughter to
deliver, nurture…and love their babies. Yes, we have a tremendous commitment to these foals, who will never know the unspeakable abuse that their mothers survived in order to bring them life, and we will remain supremely dedicated to these glorious mares who demonstrate devotion at a level that is spellbinding. Red Bucket celebrates Darcy, Marlee, Angelica, Darcey, and little orphan Roulettes mother…wherever she might be.
