Red Bucket Equine Rescue # 168- Amadeus

They say that a picture is worth 1,000 words…in this case, the old adage falls short. The photo that we snapped with our iPad while doing his intake does little to capture his beauty, nor does it adequately illustrate the depth of his roan dusting that envelops his body, and it certainly doesn’t show the intelligent and wise eyes, or the most spectacular face. Amadeus, a draft mix, hit our radar not only because of the “owner desperate” major red flag alert, not only because of his size, but also because he was never ever trained. To those of us devoted to rescue…and to the great many of our supporters who silently cheer on our meaningful work…and often encourage it with the generosity of a donation (thank you..and we really mean that) we are left with a serious case of heartburn. At nearly 11 years old he has come to us as both a high risk rescue and very disadvantaged. In spite of this betrayal, he walks with a dignity that we couldn’t manage to capture, but as we were tucking him in that first evening he locked and loaded a gaze that hit us squarely where it counts, an seemed to say “thank you”. We welcome Amadeus and promise that his second chance will bring opportunity for a full life.
