Red Bucket Equine Rescue #170-Bentley

It is with a mixture of anguish, heartbreak, and rage that we introduce our newest rescue and resident of a ranch that he now owns with other discarded, abused  and previously betrayed horses. He has been starved, and frankly we are so angry that it is hard to put our usual positive spin on this story. He is just a youngster, probably several months shy of his fourth birthday. When we told our vet that we had a new horse in with a body condition score of 1…she gently told us that he wouldn’t still be standing….until she saw him, and agreed that he was not only a 1, but thank goodness he was up. His bone structure is so horrifically exposed, he is most probably afraid to lay down for fear of not getting up…and fear of protecting his bones from the brutality of coming into contact with the ground…even the now well bedded and spotless new stall in our isolation barn that he shares with Saunders. Bentley now has a bucket, a name, dignity and the promise of a second chance. This is a promise that we take very seriously. We will do everything in our power to correct the unspeakable abuse that this horse has endured and survived. As we wipe away the tears that seem to fall in a silent and steady stream, we will refocus on a future for this lovely and courageous horse, and one day this community that we are all a part of will shed tears of triumph and celebration when he in adopted, For today, he is safe, wanted…and he has a name, Bentley.
