There are so many things that leave us scratching our heads, struggling to comprehend the illogical…the immoral. How so many healthy, sound, trained and in their prime horses are run through auctions where they are sold to the highest bidder by the pound. While our actions this week have the appearance of being tactical, our long term goal and many of our efforts behind the proverbial barn are strategic and focused toward a day, in our lifetime, when words like “horse slaughter” are part a shameful history, rather than a horrific reality. There is a new dawn, and a sunrise of hope for the 8 horses saved due to our generous donors and the friends that our horses (and future horses) now have. Friends who they may never meet but are alive due to the fact that there are so many who do care. The reality for these horses is life, because so many of us WILL NOT turn our heads, our backs, or…..our hearts. With a loving gesture to a very special family, we name our 176th horse Mercy, because thank goodness it really does exist. Welcome to your life Mercy, meet your new friends…
