While we certainly have visited since her adoption was final, nothing is quite as satisfying as the short video clips, pictures and love letters that we continue to receive. Hard to imagine that th…is stunning, athletic, and pleaser of a mare was starving to death and hours from slaughter when Red Bucket rescued her. Discovered in what amounted to the equivalent  of a war zone aftermath. Shasta and 41 siblings, all beautifully sired by a stunning Irish Thoroughbred, considered to be one of the best two year olds of his time were suffering, starving, and facing a brutal end.  Willow’s (previously Shasta’s) new mom Shona, displays all of the over protective behaviors of a new mom. Shona photographs her new baby at bath time, during playtime, and because Willow is a horse, under saddle…standing, working, and jumping. “She is the best horse that I have ever ridden. I love her!” While this is certainly a true statement for the Shona/Willow family, it is also true for the 91 other Red Bucket horses who too, are home for the Holidays.
