November 2013 Horse Highlight: Robin

He is charming, smart and extremely clever with personality plus added in. He is ridiculously cute and a bit of a mischief-maker! Meet our wonderful once in a lifetime horse, Robin, a horse who thrives on being noticed, or, more clearly stated, he enjoys being the center of attention. “He is a horse who belongs with someone who will make him the center of their universe,” says Susan Peirce. “And with that complete love and attention, will come a loyal equine companion who will never disappoint or let his human down.” Robin is a horse who needs to be acknowledged. He is as dramatic as he is your protector and best friend.

He was among a magnificently splendid circle of horses that ran on the Los Alamitos racetrack until their trainer was asked to leave because of animal cruelty and neglect. These horses were dropped off and discarded at a facility with no money to pay for their food or board. Red Bucket Rescue discovered their plight and could not turn its back. Each of the abused and abandoned horses was given a second chance and an opportunity at a forever home.

The horse we now know as “Robin” would prove to be quite the character of sorts. His antics are legendary around the Ranch. Though Robin tends to be the alpha among his friends, they are happy to oblige his every whim as they love the association with their buddy! Robin is not big on casual relationships, and even in the horse world his Ranch friends understand this. He loves and needs to feel important. Does the word diva come to mind?

Susan’s son Jared became Robin’s “Guardian Angel,” and they built a loving and trusting bonded relationship. Because of Robin’s past abandonment, he will always be a bit stand-offish to someone new. However, when the right person comes along, the connection will be instantly obvious to both Robin and his new human.

A bridle and saddle with lots of “bling” would be the perfect attire for a horse like Robin. He would be in 7th Heaven knowing that everyone’s eyes were fixed on him and his fancy accessories. “He has an amazing amount of get up and go,” says Susan, “and will need someone experienced and understanding of his extraordinary personality.” As a once in a lifetime horse, Robin will make someone a very special and forever best friend. They will both appreciate the uniqueness of the other, and their bond will not be something easily shattered. That very exceptional someone is out there for Robin, and he is ready, willing and able to be the center of their universe
