September 2013 Adoption Celebration: Gulliver

Red Bucket was glad it could accommodate one more “hoarded” horse in desperate need of food, shelter, medical attention and most of all LOVE. From the moment Gulliver stepped off of the trailer at the Red Bucket Ranch, his spirit came to life and he immediately began to flourish.

He is the type of horse that so many rescue horses have become, a beautiful well-‐ trained quarter horse with a heart of gold and a character to match. Gulliver really was the epitome of every girl’s dream horse, and the goal of Red Bucket was to, find just the right match for him.

Gulliver has the Red Bucket Heart, he has excellent character, extraordinary kindness and a gentle spirit. It became obvious from day one that he wanted a home as he not only craved the love and attention lavished on him by the Red Bucket volunteers, but gave it back in double doses to his new human friends! He was eager to please and was already a very well trained horse with a very calm demeanor and a great mind.

As luck would have it, one of the volunteers, Susan Knox, had mentioned to a friend, Molly, that Red Bucket is a wonderful place to adopt a lovable and well-‐trained horse. As with all of the adoptions at Red Bucket, the first step is to complete an application and then to carefully match that person to a horse. After completing the paper work, Molly was introduced to a few prospective horses along with Gulliver waiting for adoption. As the process of getting to know the horses and their temperaments continued, it became very apparent that Molly and Gulliver were forming a lasting bond. There was an obvious chemistry between them, and a glow of love, understanding and kindness in their initial meetings together.

Gulliver has found his forever home with his “own girl” Molly and her wonderful family. He is blessed with people who care for and love him unconditionally. He has almost become his own version of the “Pocket Pony” as he follows Molly around the pasture continuously! Molly has Gulliver in training for Western Pleasure and Trail where he is an eager participant in all that is asked of him. Molly says, “I love Gulliver!” And if one gets the chance to see them together, you can feel the bond they have made with each other. Gulliver is excelling at the Western events the trainer and Molly are working on with him, and he is ready to move into English Dressage training next. Red Bucket wishes many happy and wonderful years for Gulliver and Molly as they learn to grow and experience the joys of life together as a team!
