The Red Riding Hoods worked in a unified fashion…few spoken words, but a common goal that was both meaningful and emotional. Guinness was buffed, brushed and polished, one last Red Bucket grooming by a community that rescued, rehabilitated…and loved, loved loved him. He has proven to be remarkable, with the intelligence of his $800,000 sire, the reasonableness of the Irish, and of course, the gratitude of the rescued. Yes, lest we forget, the majority of rescued horses are healthy, sound, trained, and like Guinness, perfectly perfect! Like many of the horses who come to us for their second chances, he did not want to leave, planting all four feet and refusing to walk into the uncertainty of the trailer. With us he had found protection, acceptance, love, and a family. After two hours in the hot sun…and one last promise (Laura, his new forever mom, was waiting), he loaded into the trailer that would carry him into his new life. We all paused to wave good-bye to the mighty little Irish horse with a willingness to please and a giant heart.
