He was being collected, along with other injured racehorses, to be sold for meat. We were privileged to save him and the others (Hunter, Dalton, Danny and Houston) from a brutal and horrifying end. Instead, it was a new beginning and a second chance. We rehabilitated him, retrained him…and then we honored the third and final part of our mission: a forever home. Saying good-bye was bittersweet, for during the journey of building back Austin’s confidence and trust in mankind, and in himself, we loved him and knew him as a warm-hearted, somewhat naughty, cookie-loving rascal. Four years later, we are still receiving emails, pictures and video clips of Austin by his devoted mom Dena. Austin is very much a wanted horse, with a forever family of his very own!
