December 2013 Adoption Celebration: Kingston

Walt Disney once said, “All of our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” How true this quote has become for two very lucky “dreamers,” one a girl with a dream to love and own a horse, the other the horse with a dream to have a forever home.

Brianna and her mother Anne-Marie, both long-term active volunteers with Red Bucket, approached Susan Peirce about adopting a horse. They were regular feeders and also active in the Jr. Reds Program. They had grown to love all of the Red Bucket horses and were now on a quest to find just the perfect match! Brianna wanted a beautiful horse, one that was safe and who could jump about two feet and be shown in the Hunter classes. She and Red Bucket were committed to finding the horse of her dreams. Red Bucket and Brianna together went on this journey of finding just the right combination.

Susan explained to Brianna that it takes nine months to have a baby and eleven months to have a baby horse. “Let’s take a year, and meet as many horses as possible. So that when you adopt, you really find your dream horse,” said Susan.

Red Bucket asked this wonderful volunteer with a huge heart who had shown her love and care to all of the Red Bucket horses to be patient and enjoy the journey of discovering the magical moment when she would find her absolute right match. That amazing horse appeared at Red Bucket one day, and after 10 months, Kingston and his new owner are now living their dreams out together.

As soon as Brianna was introduced to Kingston, it was apparent that there was a real connection. She loved him instantly and he responded to her on the ground and in the saddle. Kingston is a dark bay Irish Thoroughbred, magnificent to look at with a spectacular face and a gorgeously flowing mane and tail. He is an outstanding Hunter, beautiful under saddle, and with a great mind. Once Brianna laid her eyes on Kingston, it was a magical moment of instant “Love.” They have been perfect for each other ever since.

Brianna and Kingston celebrated their four month anniversary on Saturday, October 12. She expressed her delight that their celebration was a wonderful trail ride in the local Regional Park where they usually ride two times a week. This is Brianna’s first horse, and she adores him. They participate in Hunter/Jumper lessons three days a week and she attributes Kingston to helping her to stay brave. “He is very brave,” says Brianna; “And that helps me to be brave!”

Kingston and Brianna have participated in their first show together and it was amazingly successful. They came away with two 1st place ribbons, one 2nd place and one 3rd place in a variety of classes. Kingston has proven to be an awesome and very versatile equine. He is a gentle and sweet horse, one who you would consider as your “best friend.”

Red Bucket is very pleased to witness this dream come true for Brianna and Kingston, and we wish them a “Happily ever after!”
