How a BLM Mustang ended up…by way of a dude ranch…on a kill lot, hours from shipping to slaughter we may never know. What we do know was (again thanks to Shirley Puga…and a small …village, including Doug Lake, and Red Bucket) that this super darling gelding had been beaten about his head…and yet, remained a “pleaser”, wanting to connect…but afraid to. We spent the summer loving him, inviting him to trust us, finding horsey ways for him to find peace…and ultimately happiness. Jenon spent literally hours on getting him to pick up his feet…it seemed as if he wanted them planted firmly on the ground just in case he needed to flee. He went from EXTREMELY head shy…to not so shyly asking to be petted and scratched. We gently reinforced that he was now safe, and that he wasn’t going anywhere. Only now he is….he is going home with Cristen, forever. Cristen fell in love with Banjo last September, she generously sponsored him for the entire year. She has returned frequently to visit him, delighted in his progress and growth. It didn’t take a year, and today Banjo is ready…and Cristen is taking him home. Congratulations Cristen and Banjo, this horse deserves his happy ending and Cristen and her generous family deserve this special “old soul”, who we have been privileged to help…and love.
