Her story is remarkably similar to the other’s that we have featured of late. Impressively bred with the athleticism and mindset that accompanies spectacular bloodlines. She too, li…ke her sister Willow, celebrated in yesterdays post, was hours from slaughter, after being cruelly starved, and awaiting an even more barbaric end in the Mexican slaughter plants. Valentine initially named for the perfect heart shaped star, and later known for her floppy ears, relaxed lower lip, and sweetheart of a personality has finally found her “perfect match”in Amber. When we asked Amber what her expectations of Valentine were and she replied “No expectations” we swallowed twice. Perhaps with the the coming new year, those of us who save and serve can take heart that the tides will again wash ashore a day when again our horses are valued, when their worth is not measured in purses, ribbons, or ego. That the indescribable joy of care-taking, mutual devotion, and the partnership forged with our horses prevails as a lifetime high. Tonight, Valentine will go to sleep in the carefully prepared stall, and wake up on Christmas morning, home…forever. Happy Holidays to Valentine, Amber, and each of you who help us help the horses!!
