On the heels of Pilot’s success on the set of the ASPCA’s 150th anniversary PSA, Mozart hopped on the Red Bucket horse trailer and headed off to a studio just off of Melrose, a stone’s throw from Paramount. This time it was Mozart who stole the show, complete with his adorable “black and white” attire. The gracious and lovely Mary Behr from “Two Broke Girls” (in a matching black and white ensemble) was the voice for Mozart. Mary and her leading man Mozart certainly lit up the… screen and left the crew, director and audience pondering the question: “This is a rescue horse?”. Of course, those of us who dedicate our lives to saving and serving horses know that Mozart fits the profile of a horse going to slaughter to a tee….a beautiful, healthy, 7-year-old, AQHA registered, sound and perfectly trained gelding. Yes, Pilot and Mozart represented perfectly the picture of the slaughter-bound American horse. So many thanks to Barbara Todd, Carol DeMott, Karen McGarrah for helping behind the scenes, and to Pilot and Mozart for being such professional and outstanding representatives. We also humbly pay homage to the approximately 140,000 yearly American horses who have violently lost their lives, tragically raising awareness of this unacceptable epidemic. We thank our rescue partners, supporters, and the ASPCA for fighting to end such atrocious acts.
