An Innocent Gesture

While we do not know all of the minuscule details of her damaged life, we have enough of the pieces to understand her story. Angelica was abused, she was kept in darkness, and her life was not valued by those who were her captors. While she has never known the meaning of commitment, safety, or forever…she is beginning to learn the definition of forever. Angela, Grady, and Amy spent the afternoon on their knees…the symbolism of that innocent gesture is not lost on us. Angelica ate little baby carrots from their gently curled fingers, her muzzle slowly became more inquisitive and searching. As her new friends fingers became outstretched, soon Angelica’s forehead (which had been untouchable) was gently caressed and tenderly rubbed. While words carry clarity of the spoken language, Angelica’s softened eyelids and gentle leaning into the human touch carried a far greater impact. Little Micah, as is understanding far more than an 11 day old little foal should comprehend bravely approached Grady, for what was the first of many loving touches.
