Ellen named him Liam. (We are chuckling about it now…we try to find lightness in what is often daunting and heartbreaking work) We have so many Irish horses, she wanted him to fit in. Initially we didn’t question the choice, and besides …it was her turn to name a horse. He was so skinny, he looked like the skeleton used in an anatomy lab, his coat was dull, even his vacant and hollow eyes were skinny! He had also clearly been very abused, and sadly the abuse was going to keep escalating as it appeared that Liam was headed for illegal back yard rodeo activity when we rescued him. Over the last several months Liam has gained weight, luster, and muscle, and dare we mention the hind quarters? This boy definitely isn’t an Irish lad…..he is American made and all Quarter Horse! This week Liam graduated from tier 2 to tier 1, which means that it’s time to go to work….and he is on Lauren’s ride list for the summer. Liam is blossoming right before our eyes (and so is that magnificent hind end), it is almost incomprehensible the difference 6 months later. This fabulous horse is going to make some lucky person very happy…..and with Lauren on the job, we figure Liam might just get adopted before Lauren heads back to college!
