Liam gets his girl

When he came to us, he was shattered, starving, and suffering. His eyes were vacant and flat, but worse…they appeared haunted. Once we settled him into the mare motel in his new well bedded stall next to Tess and across from Knox, we didn’t see those eyes again for a very long while. He buried his head in his feeder, rarely lifting it at all. In the beginning, very few of the Red Riding Hoods even knew that one of those eyes was blue. As time passed and he slowly filled the vacancy of desperation, he began to reenter the world and interact with those of us who were caring for him. He would watch Brianna, and track her as she moved about her duties, his eyes were curious …a bit pleading. In spite of the unspeakable abuse that he had endured, he not only survived, but right in front of our eyes, Liam began to thrive. He seemed to love the young girls the most, and while Brianna was his first love….Liam’s heart now belongs to Delilah. For those of us who have dedicated our lives to rescuing the abused, there are a few makers that define what “second chance” really means. Perhaps it is best illustrated by a little girl, lovingly braiding his mane, wrapping his legs, and gently kissing his nose. In this next chapter of Liam’s second chance, he gets to experience someone who has chosen to get to know him….picked him….and explore the possibility of what “forever” might really hold. In the meantime, Delilah gets to hold on just a little tighter to Liam, and Liam gets his girl.
