Little 5-year-old Lindsey’s family, vacationing in Southern California from their home in Connecticut, made time for a very important visit to Red Bucket amongst the various trips to the zoo, the beach, Disneyland…and of course, lots of time in Grandma’s Jacuzzi. Lindsey, while tiny in stature, came armed with an arsenal of surprise and upset that not all people treat horses with respect and kindness. At Red Bucket, we too are often crushed and disappointed at the circumstances that bring so many desperate horses to the embrace and safety of our care. The surprise that continues to fuel our work is the knowledge that a new generation is being raised to care deeply about our environment, animal welfare, and contributing to making the world a better place. We salute Lindsey’s family…and her wonderful Grandma… for teaching and modeling compassion to those hands and heart that will one day take over our meaningful work. Our horses too, continue to fill our spirit and hearts, as they bow down so tenderly to thank our children for caring.
