Red Bucket Equine Rescue # 322- Klondike

It continues to stump us…perfectly good horses ending up at an auction where they are sold by the pound for their meat. In this case it was not a horse, but a snuggly mule named Klondike. Thanks to a Good Samaritan and fellow rescuer, he found his way to Red Bucket on a somewhat crooked…and at times scary…journey down his own version of a “yellow brick road” from near death at a Texas slaughter auction to a roomy, well-bedded and safe paddock at a ranch that he now owns. It hasn’t taken very long for Klondike to settle in…Linda reported that he
looooves to be groomed, scratched, and cuddled. With the exception of fly spray, Klondike doesn’t have a complaint in the world. It is as if he is making up for lost time…and lost love. Klondike looks for every opportunity to be touched, interacted with and “talked to”. We do not think that he will be here for very long; Klondike, you see, is a barely-used mule, with a tremendous heart, and a whole heck of a lot of living yet to do!
