We have long pondered the makings of a good horse…….and it is our experience that they are all good. In the satisfaction of our work, we are privileged to mine the little “gems” and then introduce them to those who will treasure them. Today, Sampson is the ambassador for the many good horses who await their chance to shine…to partner…to belong. He is perhaps as versatile as a horse can be. We often joke that if he were a state he would be California. One could easily place a western saddle on his back and take a leisurely early morning trail ride, returning to the barn to play a bit in the arena, or tackle a few trail obstacles. In the afternoon, one might dust off their english saddle and take a lesson…or jump a few gates and a flower box with a colorful vertical. Upon nightfall, when completing the last few final chores, one could pop into his stall and feel the warmth of his breath nuzzling the crook of one’s neck or gently exploring a pocket for a treat. He welcomes the intimacy of a nighttime bed check and looks for the opportunity to communicate that he is here, he is ready, and yes, Sampson is a very, very good horse.
