The late night email from a rescue colleague and dear friend caught us entirely off guard. There

were several family horses shipping to slaughter the following day…beautifully bred, trained and

lovely animals…sound with gentle temperaments, could we help? We still can’t understand how

these horses…family pets could end up in such a horrifying situation. Of course we said we would

help…and 3 grey beauties joined our growing herd. Shields has proven to be a sheer delight, he

is rock solid, sound, super attractive…with the most beautiful face. He has had training in English,

Western and trail. Amy even popped him over some cross rails, he didn’t even think about it twice.

His new mom, Nina thinks that he is perfect….and he is. Next week we will conduct his home visit,

write his contract and then Shields will go home with Nina. The betrayal behind him, he will have a

new family, a partner for life in Nina, and a second chance!
