Winni’s First Week

The Red Riding Hoods are celebrating little Winni’s first week! Because of the outpouring of love and support (for both Nalah and Winni) from all of our friends, we wanted to update you on her accomplishments and tricks! While Winni initially got off to a late start with nursing, we are happy to announce that she is now an expert…as a matter of fact she could definitely take The Gold in the “Nursing-Napping-Nursing-Napping” category  should it ever be added to the Olympics as a recognized event! She is still a bit windswept, and therefore hasn’t gone outside yet, but that hasn’t proven to be a barrier, and her normal foal development markers are delighting us. She has discovered the automatic waterer and thinks that it is ridiculously fun to play in the water. After nursing, she will run laps around Nalah…bucking gleefully before collapsing all pooped out for a power nap. Winni stands next to her wonderful mother mimicking Nalah as she eats her hay…shh,  don’t tell her that she still doesn’t have any teeth! The highlight of her one week celebration came when she shyly kissed Kimberly, leaving us completely and utterly enchanted and thrilled! We cannot begin to express our relief that this precious filly is safe in our care. We offer a special word of gratitude to our friends and good samaritans who helped facilitate Nalah’s rescue and all those who help us help the horses!
