It takes a Village…

Sometimes it really does take a village…and sometimes there are happy endings. Red Bucket learned about Honey and Sandy a few weeks ago. They are full sisters…20 and 21 years old.

Their elderly owner died, and the heirs to the estate…and heirs to the horses abandoned them. They were initially rescued and re-homed, but tragedy…or perhaps just senseless irresponsibility struck yet again. We were contacted by the woman who had helped them the first time. After feeding them (again) for 15 months…and without a cent of support from the heirs, the two healthy AQHA sisters were facing euthanasia. Fortunately there are those of us who refuse to quit and refuse to turn our backs. Red Bucket set out to bring these sisters to safety, we were joined by our dear friend and incredible animal advocate Shirley Puga. Another friend, Marlene Dodd linked arms with us, as did an anonymous donor who offered our girls sanctuary, safety and an opportunity to survive…and live out their lifetime without the threat of abandonment ever again. Today, Honey and Sandy are kicking up their heals in a pasture filled with friends. Please join us in doing your part to help save and serve the voiceless…join our village, and make a difference to a horse.
