They come to us most often for a promise of forever. Haze has come to us for the promise of the very best care, devotion and love that is possible…we know that he will only be with us for a short while, and yet, we count him, because he counts. Therefore, we are also counting every moment that we still have with him. He has improved so dramatically in our care, and overcome almost every obstacle thrown at him, and while his coat rivals that of a race horse, we know that we are slowly losing the brutal and insidious battle with laminitis. While there are a great many things that we can say about Haze, the most significant of these things is that we love him and that he is lovable. His cheerful, pleasant, and remarkably courageous disposition have made it a privilege to care for him. There is a short list of people who have declared their intent to adopt him if he survives. We now know definitively, with a reality that is unbearably cruel and painful that he he will not. Today, we announce that Susan has adopted Haze, that he is chosen, he is cherished, and that he is home for as long as his forever might be.
