Red Bucket Equine Rescue #160- Lakota

We are sadly reminded that there are many faces to the word rescue, and yet there is a face, a horse and a beating heart for every one of them. There is also heartbreak. One of our veterinarians contact…ed us about Lakota, we were to be his last chance. He had been loved, so much so, that his owner got him colic surgery when he colicked….and hernia surgery when he herniated….and rehab after that. Somewhere between all of those surgeries his owner ran out of money…and Lakota became very very afraid. The fear became anxiety, and the anxiety manifested in behavioral problems. The owner contacted the vet about putting Lakota down…she couldn’t help him, couldn’t keep him, and couldn’t sell him. The vet came to the one place that she could trust, Red Bucket. In our devotion to serving horses and fulfilling our mission to save, rehabilitate, and re-home them, we are compelled to step up and do our part….and hope that it will be enough. We know that if you treat something like it’s fragile, that it will be fragile. If you treat something like it is broken, it will be broken. We will treat Lakota like the great horse that he is…and we are confident that he will be great. Welcome, Lakota!
