Red Bucket Equine Rescue #166- Kolcheck

The verbiage “owner desperate” strikes a wave of both fear and sickening heart ache. Kolcheck and three other drafts caught our attention. We certainly didn’t like the math…Kolcheck alone tipped the… scales at over 1350 pounds…multiplied by 45-50 cents a pound….we weren’t willing to take the chance. While his weight was certainly substantial, his care had not been. His coat told the tale of very little attention, and his main and tail hung in tangled twists and heavy ropes of months of overlooked need and ignored obligations. Most disappointing, while he had been at one point trained under saddle, he has gone without either the devotion that he deserves to thrive…and in this case, the training and handling that he requires…perhaps in order to survive. He was delivered by a “hauler” who was unconcerned that he he’d been injured in her trailer, but left complaining that her trailer might be scratched. We were left with a beautiful and spectacular 10 year old gelding who has the promise of a second chance, and one day a new adopter who will deeply  care about him, and take measures to make sure that he is never discounted again. It is our pleasure to welcome Kolcheck.
