He was roped, choked down, brutally castrated, branded, and then tied to a tractor and dragged…until he was “halter broke”…..he never really stood a chance, they weren’t even going to let him try. Instead of the auction, they just sent him to the scales…to weigh him for meat. Never mind that he was an intelligent and beautiful horse, well bred…heck, his father is a really famous and well known sire. We have his full sister Cover Girl, and because we always “take care of family”, offered to give him refuge at Red Bucket. There is always a back story, and this is no exception. It was our friend Marlene who initially rescued him (and hundreds of others) and another friend Kristine who selflessly arranged to have Marlene deliver him to us. He had been on the trailer for a very long time, yet unloaded and led like a seasoned pro arriving at Worlds…or The Capitol Challenge. We were informed that he is indeed a very brave horse, not afraid of anything….. except for people. We aren’t sure that we will ever understand the destruction, devastation, and flagrant disregard for horses. What we do know, is that PlayBoy is safe…that we will help him heal, that there are other soldiers like Marlene and Kristine who partner with us to help them, and that we will NEVER give up on saving and serving shattered horses. Welcome PlayBoy…you are truly safe.
