Red Bucket Rescue # 116- Jess

When we were first contacted by Riverside Animal control about two starving horses that had been confiscated, we felt horrible for the horses. We are full, very very full, so taking them in wasn’t on our mind…..until we saw them. We saw Jess first, her starvation and criminal neglect hadn’t robbed her of her desire to be touched, or nurtured. She approached and dropped her head into my chest, begging to have her lovely head caressed…held. The impact of her suffering was visceral, how someone could so cruelly cause such suffering and devastation, is unimaginable. We knew instantly that we would NOT turn our backs, we simply couldn’t say no.

Our lovely and gentle Jess has joined our growing family of second chance horses, selfless volunteers, and generous donors. Welcome Jess.
