Paisley

…leasures, and then you reach your fingers out……you will touch the softest coat of fluffy white fur, add gentle blue eyes and a pink nose…no it isn’t a bunny rabbit, it is our new addition Paisley. Paisley is an absolute sweetheart of a horse, while we are still assessing her, our very strong hunch is that Paisley will make someone…maybe even a little girl or boy ….maybe even in time for the holidays……..a very special friend. Welcome Paisley, we th…

Red Bucket Equine Rescue # 258 and #259- Trinket and Penelope

…re. Our newest residents awoke, covered in shavings, to breakfast, compassion, and a new day! In addition to a red bucket, a name, dignity, and a promise that means something, little Penelope received her first halter, albeit a bit large for her tiny little head, AND her first lesson in leading from Miss Lauren, head mistress of the Red Bucket Charm Farm. Later she sported tiny little piggy tails and a much-needed grooming. Mama mini, Trinket, see…

…at Red Bucket, ‘retirement’ doesn’t mean feeling bored and useless! WillPower is a treasured mentor to his little charge, Petey, and he takes his duties very seriously! He is fiercely protective, tirelessly patient, and completely devoted to little Petey. Our geriatric residents are treasured and valued for the service they provide to our newly weaned youngsters. Mozart

…ace that will melt your heart. Today, with a warm sunshine on his newly groomed coat (with lots of product) he stands in his roomy and well bedded paddock, munching on sweet orchard hay, flirting with the Red Riding hoods….and keeping his delightfully mis matched eyes on his neighbor (and new girl friend) Bunny, who seems mildly indifferent to his attentive stares…and the ridiculous show that he puts on for her demonstrating his maneuvers of bucks…

October 2016 Culture Message

…recently partially vacated paddock. Joey responded to his new environment like a toddler in a playground, only Jack was the jungle gym, and Joey was determined to climb him…and he did. At first, Jack would gently lift his leg, and Joey would slide to the ground, rebound enthusiastically and then get a running start, launch himself at Jack and try again…and again…and again. When Jack started walking away, we nudged him in the direction of the gate…

Forever Home Update: Austin

…on, Danny and Houston) from a brutal and horrifying end. Instead, it was a new beginning and a second chance. We rehabilitated him, retrained him…and then we honored the third and final part of our mission: a forever home. Saying good-bye was bittersweet, for during the journey of building back Austin’s confidence and trust in mankind, and in himself, we loved him and knew him as a warm-hearted, somewhat naughty, cookie-loving rascal. Four years l…

Wallace and Ranger

…ace from a slaughter auction. He came to us terrified, confused and hungry. He also came bearing the internal scars of betrayal and abandonment. Wallace has begun to enjoy our touch, our attention, and the well-placed playful pat or satisfying scratch. Like his new buddy Ranger, who was rescued from slaughter at only one month of age, Wallace is also learning that sometimes pockets hide treats…and it is safe to check! This week Wallace progressed…

Red Bucket Equine Rescue Forever Home # 96- Cody Oats

…olute darling……slightly cautious, super dependable, trustworthy….and newly adopted. He has spent the last 6 months bunking with his bff, Mozart. We are all a bit teary eyed about this one, not because he has had a history of the troubling callous treatment and heart break that so many of our horses have experienced…but because he hasn’t….and he wont. No one is more misty than Gemma, our friend, fellow volunteer…and now very proud adopter of Cody O…
